Animations
While building the foundation of scenes and using 3D modeling to create worlds from imagination is the art form that I enjoy most, I still find great satisfaction in bringing these worlds to life through animation. Whether it be in 2D or 3D art, adding motion is a great way of adding depth to the world - this gives the objects much more scale as they do such things as flying past each other, or passing by the camera.
This motion can also set the mood. Aggressive strokes of an arm can reveal anger or fright, while the smooth and graceful arc of a spaceship's flight path can illustrate agility and confidence as the crew approaches their goal. The slow but powerful movement of a cannon extending from a port can, in turn, add to the powerful presence of a heavily armored fortress.
Motion can send a powerful message in animation. With that said, I'd like to share with you what I've learned about it.
